Don Quijote

Since I am receiving the questions regarding to Don Quijote in Spain, I decided to update in my website. I hope to help all the people who wants to learn Spanish!
I am going to up-date new question when I have.

==================================================

Q: Why I chose Barcelona?

I like the place with sea and mountain. And also I like to live in big city.
In Barcelona, there is a beach near by and also it is easy to go to mountain in weekend.

Q: How did I like Barcelona?

There are so many things to see always in this place. In the weekend, I also did short trips to suburbs such as Valencia, Figueres, Girona, Monserat.... etc.
In fact, there are many foreigners all year. So if you speak English only with other students, you can also survive. So it might be not a good place to learn. But it is always up to you what you want to do during your stay.

I visited also Madrid and Salamanca to see the cities. I saw many students are changing the places inside Don Quijote and they had a different accent as well.
I think if you have longer time in Spain, you can try to learn in different cities.

I wanted to do but in the end, I stayed in Barcelona only because I liked the city and the apartment, friends which I found there.

Q: Did I find it difficult to speak Spanish with local residents of Barcelona because the dominant dialect is Catalan?

Sometimes in the streets.
For example, the name of the streets or signs are Catalan direct in Barcelona. If you see the map, they are written in Spanish. Rest of the things, I did not have any problems. You will hear that people is speaking in Catalan, but to us (foreigners) they speak Spanish. Also there are many people who dose not speak Catalan in Barcelona, too. It is very big city and people are coming from all over the country.

If you want to learn Spanish without direct or accents, I recommend you to go to North of Spain or Madrid...
I think they do not have strong accent. If you go south, they have stronger accents.

Q: How was the school?

About Don Quijote, good school. Good quality teachers and secretaries. They are very helpful if you want to learn. I asked sometimes to collect my report in Spanish or extra homework's and they are very glad to help me. It was nice.

I had sometimes difficulties to learn the other language because there are international students in the class and Some students were much faster to understand or use Spanish than me! So that I asked to my teachers to give me extra homework's.

Q: Accommodation.

At the beginning, I stayed in the apartment in Don Quijote with other students. In there it was hard to speak Spanish each other because most of us were beginners.
If you really willing to learn Spanish quickly, I recommend to stay with Host family. Even one month or 3 months make you change for sure. You can change your accommodation when you are there, too. I arranged in my country for first 2 weeks then I found own apartment sharing with Spanish people.

Q: Why did I chose Don Quijote?

I wrote e-mails like you did and I received the answer quickest from Don Quijote. She was very helpful and I felt good service. When I buy something, the service is the most important. I like to feel nice to buy something. It was the same for me. When I received the answer from Don Quijote, I just trusted to them without reason.
Please try to send e-mail to them as well!

It is always very hard to choose ONE school but you can just make reservation for first one month and then think!? How about it?
I did like this. Meantime I checked and visited to the other schools as well. I found out that Don Quijote was most expensive school but good professional organization.

In the end, I stayed all the time in Don Quijote. (more than half year... !)
